#41: October 10, 2006 - A Fish Tale
What happens when Henry starts talking and can't stop himself? You get a great Bad Brains story! I was trying to think of where I had just heard the UK Subs "Rockers" song that played tonight. It was on the justdamnedpunk podcast. Check that out, you won't be disappointed! Don't forget about all of the notes on the official site and our very own Fanatic! Fantasies page. There's a pretty eclectic mix from Silke that includes a Mongolian throat singer. I feel like a kid in a candy store! [update: I adjusted the sound level and re-posted yet again. The first was too loud, the second too quiet, so hopefully this one will be just right! I've gone back and corrected files through the Sept 26 show. If you're not happy with the download you've got prior to Thursday, Oct 12th try these new versions. Thanks for your patience.]

Hi Angela,
Some feedback for you on the sound levels... I think they were maybe a little high before but now they are too low, specifically the Oct. 10 show and the Sept. 26 repost. Part 1 of Oct. 10 is even lower than the other three parts; its levels never reach midrange at all. I compared various shows in Winamp's EQ and you can see the levels on the last several shows were about the same as earlier shows that Tara recorded, but there is quite a drop off in Oct. 10 and the Sept. 26 repost. Maybe split the difference?...
Maybe the folks who complained of clipping are listening on mp3 players? I tested these on my computer, which has a decent sound card and speakers. But I know my mp3 player can clip pretty easily if the levels are too high and it has trouble reproducing bass at higher volumes because of it. All software volume sliders on my PC are set at 80% to avoid distortion and I also compared the new HIMH files to other mp3s I have, so the lower sound levels in new HIMH shows are very noticeable. FWIW I never noticed any clipping on previous shows with this setup.
Just my $.02...

Hey, Angela--- thanks for the show. I just wanted to let you know that I personally don't ever have a problem w/ the sound quality. Hell, even if it wasn't that great, I wouldn't complain anyway--- I mean, I wouldn't be able to get a recording of Henry's show any other way. Thanks a million for your efforts every week.

Wow very cool! A lot of punk and hardcore this week. I just played the b-side to The Klan's single (Cover Girls) on my podcast last week.
