July 31, 2007

It's good to have a live show again! We get a mini talking show at the beginning about where Henry's been lately. Last week's show will be rebroadcast later on in the year.

I posted another Fanatic!Fantasies set. Next week I'll be taking a trip to Sweden via Copenhagen and so I have made a set of almost all Swedish bands. It will be my first trip there, so if any of you have any suggestions, tips, or warnings (like "watch out for the shoe repairman") I'm all ears!

Don't forget- there's still Pataki's F!F set from last week, too! It seems to come in spurts, doesn't it?

Part One * Part Two * Part Three * Part Four

Track list (finally! Sorry it took me so long):
01. The Ruts - Dope For Guns
02. Sons Of Slum - What Goes Around (Must Come Around)
03. Team Doyobi – Hottroche
04. The Fall - It’s The New Thing
05. The Velvet Underground - I Heard Her Call My Name
06. The Dils - You're Not Blank

10. Rapider Than Horsepower - I Can't Survive Without My Beatbox
11. Alan Vega - Freedom's Smashed
12. Sunn 0))) - Sin Nanna

Just in case anyone was wondering-
Next week's show will be recorded and posted as usual. I don't leave for vacation until the following afternoon. Now the week after that is going to be interesting. I'll be recording and posting from my hotel room. This week's post was a test run from my laptop and all went well, so there shouldn't be any problems doing this on the road. The biggest danger is probably me not waking up on time. I'm just kidding- I'll drag my ass out of bed and take one for the team. LOL It's not like I can't go back to sleep after!

Sweden is so great. I've been there many times. I can no longer eat Syl Fish, however (The Swedish equivalent of, oh say, Cheetos, or something like that) because they serve it with EVERYTHING and you tend to overdo it. Maybe someday I can look at it again without wanting to hurl. If you will be in Stockholm, do visit the Vasa war ship. It is truly incredible. You also may be able to do Skansen while the people are in costume since it is summer. THere is a great bookstore on the main plaza. I forget the name of it, but it's 4 stories and book heaven. Everyone speaks English there, but it's good to know "tack so mycket" :-). Have fun. Thanks for the recordings.

Tack so mycket! :-)

Syl Fish, huh? Interesting. I'm not sure I'll make it as far north as Stockholm on this trip. I'll only be there for 8 days and right now it looks like it'll be Copenhagen, Malmö, Lund, and Göteborg.

I leave one day before the music festival in Malmö!! I'm so disappointed about that.

Henry said that the last show with the streaming problem will be re-aired later in the year, so there will be another chance to get the full show then.

Thank you Angela for even keeping up your work here during your vacation! What would I do on Wednesday morning, without going here...

Hey, everybody!
Sorry it took me so long to get the track list up. I got buried in things here and just plain forgot.

Regarding the last track of this week's show: I've got a 2-cd Etta James set that is "The Complete Modern and Kent Recordings". On it, there is not only the regular release version of Hey Henry, but also an alternate take AND an alternate version which were unreleased until this compilation came out in 2005. I've uploaded all three tracks for you to download here.
I will add another post later with an excerpt from the liner notes on how Richard Berry ended up on this song.
(falling over tired at the moment)
